In this lesson, we will discuss what Alzheimer’s disease is and look at some causes and risk factors for developing this progressive motor neuron disease.  We will also look at different stages of Alzheimer’s disease with signs and symptoms of each. We will then look at diagnostic testing used to confirm the disorder along with medications and treatment options used to manage symptoms.  Finally we will give a thorough assessment of nursing interventions and safety precautions that nurses, clients, and caregivers will need to be familiar with to promote safety.
