In this content review, we will define amblyopia and identify causes and risk factors for developing this chronic eye disorder. We will review signs and symptoms nurses will assess for along with diagnostics and testing used to confirm the disorder.  Treatment methods will be covered including eye patches, medications, and side effects of medications nurses need to educate clients or parents about. Client education will focus on preserving vision, infection prevention, and safety precautions to prevent complications.
