Throughout this lesson, we will identify the structures of the outer, middle, and inner ear and how they contribute to both hearing and balance. It is important to know the normal function and appearance of the structures of the ear so you can better recognize signs and symptoms of disorders and the pathology behind each.  This will help guide all treatments and interventions as we move through other content sections. Throughout these sections, we will focus on assessment, prevention, and treatment concerning common disorders of the ear and review how disorders of the ear can affect balance, safety, and even gastrointestinal function causing nausea and vomiting.
