Appendicitis

In this lesson we will discuss what Appendicitis is, and the causes and possible risk factors, and why it is an emergency. We’ll then talk about assessments, and priority nursing interventions, including client education.

Upon the completion of this lesson, learners will be able to:

1. Describe Appendicitis and why it is an emergency. Describe 2-4 signs and symptoms, and 2 possible complications.
2. Describe 2 causes or risk factors for Appendicitis,  2 methods of diagnosis, the most common type of treatment, and 2-3 priority nursing interventions.
