In this lesson, we will go over what arthroplasty is and why the procedure is performed.   We will talk about disorders of the musculoskeletal system that arthroplasty can be used to treat along with signs and symptoms that this procedure may be appropriate.  We will review important nursing interventions for before and after arthroplasty which will focus on safety, fall precautions, infection prevention, and pain management. Medications for symptoms management will be covered and then finally important client teaching topics for after the procedure.
