Cataracts

In this content review, we will go over what cataracts are, types of cataracts, and what causes them.  We will then identify risk factors for developing cataracts and prevention measures. We will review signs and symptoms nurses will assess for along with diagnostics and testing used to confirm this progressive eye disorder.  Treatment methods will be covered including surgery and medications along with side effects of medications and surgical interventions nurses need to be familiar with. Finally we will cover client education topics that are focused on preserving vision, infection prevention, and safety precautions to prevent complications.
