In this lesson, we will review causes and risk factors for developing cirrhosis of the liver.  Additionally, we will go over common signs and symptoms of cirrhosis and testing used to confirm the diagnosis.  We will then discuss dietary, medical, and surgical interventions that are available for treatment, including liver transplants.   Finally, we will review nursing interventions and dietary education important for preventing complications from surgery, medications, or the progression of the disease.
