In this lesson, we will give an overview of gastrointestinal reflux disease, better known as GERD.   We will go over common signs and symptoms of the disease along with testing used to confirm its diagnosis.  We will look at treatment methods, including medications and dietary changes along with priority nursing interventions used to prevent and monitor for complications.  Lastly, we will expand on important client education topics to support the chronic management of symptoms.
