In this lesson, we will identify common types of lab tests used to diagnose disorders of the gastrointestinal, or GI, system.  We will discuss what each test measures along with nursing interventions for collection and transport of specimens. We will also establish normal values for each test and review what abnormal lab values may indicate in terms of gastrointestinal function.
