In this content review, we will go over what glaucoma is and two different types of the disorder.  We will go over some of the many causes and risk factors for developing glaucoma in addition to signs and symptoms of both types.  Next we will look at diagnostics and testing used to confirm glaucoma and nursing interventions for the testing procedures. Interventions for treatment methods will be covered, including surgery and medications, along with side effects of medications and surgical interventions nurses need to be familiar with.  Finally we will cover client education topics that are focused on preserving vision, infection prevention, and safety precautions to prevent complications.
