In this lesson, we will review what hematology is and how it aids in diagnosing disorders of the blood.  We will describe the functions of the blood transport system and identify some physiological causes behind disorders of this system.   Wewill then go over signs and symptoms of some hematological disorders and introduce diagnostic testing used to differentiate different disorders from one another.  Finally, we will review priority nursing interventions for working with clients with hematological disorders that are going to be focused on safety, preventing injury, and monitoring for potential complications.
