Hyperkalemia
What is the function of potassium in the body? We are going to answer that question in this lesson and then identify some causes and risk factors for developing hyperkalemia, or high potassium levels. We will then look at signs and symptoms that nurses will need to carefully monitor for, which will include careful cardiac monitoring. Finally, we will review priority nursing interventions and medical treatments along with potential complications the condition can cause that would require additional treatment.
