Immunizations

In this course, we will discuss Immunizations, how they protect individuals and the community, and the Center for Disease Control recommendations. We will also discuss the priority nursing interventions, including the nurse’s role in informed consent.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this lesson, the learner will be able to:

1. Describe how immunizations/vaccines prevent disease, and herd (community) immunity. Identify the role of the Center for Disease Control.
2. Describe 3-4 common side effects of vaccines. Describe informed consent, and the nurse’s role in the process.
