Throughout this lesson, we will identify what iron deficiency anemia is and identify some causes and risk factors for developing this disorder.  We will then review signs and symptoms of iron deficiency anemia and review the diagnostic testing used to distinguish this disorder from other types of anemia.  We will review medications and treatments along with priority nursing interventions regarding medication education and prevention of complications. Finally, we will review important client teaching topics regarding nutrition, preventing complications, and symptoms management.
