In this lesson, we will first define MRSA and identify some causes and risk factors for developing this infection.  This is an important section because MRSA is very common in hospitals and healthcare centers and as nurses, we often treat a number of clients with this type of skin disorder.  We will review some of the most common signs and symptoms of MRSA including assessment and diagnostic techniques used to confirm the diagnosis. Next we will identify appropriate levels of isolation for clients in hospitals that have a MRSA infection along with other important nursing interventions for preventing MRSA transmission.  Finally we will go through medications and treatment methods including important client teaching topics and potential serious complications of a MRSA infection.
