In this lesson, we will review what osteoarthritis is and identify some differences between it and rheumatoid arthritis.  We will discuss causes and risk factors for developing this chronic musculoskeletal disorder along with common signs and symptoms nurses will be assessing for.  We will identify nursing interventions and review medications that are commonly used for managing symptoms. Finally client teaching topics will be addressed for managing pain, preventing complications, and supporting movement and safety.
