In this content review, we will define otosclerosis and identify causes and risk factors for developing this chronic ear disorder. We will review signs and symptoms nurses will assess for along with diagnostics and testing used to confirm the disorder.  Medications and surgical interventions along with nursing interventions surrounding side effects, surgical procedures, and safety precautions will also be reviewed. Finally important client teaching regarding the management of symptoms and prevention of infections will be addressed.
