Parkinson’s Disease
In this lesson, we will review Parkinson’s disease and identify the pathology behind this progressive, chronic neurological disorder. We will then review signs and symptoms of the different stages of Parkinson’s disease and start to identify nursing interventions to promote safety within each stage. Treating and managing symptoms of Parkinson’s disease can be complicated and we will discuss the many medications and safety precautions utilized in treatment plans for clients with this disorder. Finally, we will identify important education topics for clients and caregivers for maintaining independence and safety.
