Pressure Ulcer

In this lesson, we will describe what a pressure ulcer is and establish some causes and risk factors for developing this skin disorder.  We will review stages of pressure ulcers and signs and symptoms of each stage. Common locations of pressure ulcer development nurses will assess for will be pointed out along with nursing interventions to prevent pressure ulcers.  We will also address nursing nursing interventions and medications for treating pressure ulcers including types of dressings and wound care for different stages of ulcer.
