Retinal Detachment
In this content review, we will do a review of what the retina is and how it affects vision. We will then define what a retinal detachment is along with signs and symptoms of this emergency eye disorder. We will go over some causes and risk factors for developing a retinal detachment and then discuss signs and symptoms nurses will be assessing for. Next we will look at diagnostics and testing used to confirm a retinal detachment and surgical interventions used to repair tissue damage and prevent complications. Finally we will cover nursing interventions and client education topics on recognizing symptoms, surgical interventions, infection prevention, and preservation of vision.
