In this lesson, we will discuss what a retrograde pyelogram is and determine how it can help detect disorders of the ureters, bladder, and kidneys.  This is a semi- invasive procedure so we will review important nursing interventions before and after the procedure.  We will also identify potential complications nurses need to assess for after the procedure.  Finally, we will also identify some contraindications for performing a retrograde pyelogram based on pre-procedure nursing assessment data.
