In this lesson, we will review what rheumatoid arthritis is and identify causes and risk factors for developing this chronic musculoskeletal system disorder.  We will review signs and symptoms in addition to diagnostic testing that can be used to confirm the disorder. Treatments and symptoms management, including medications and surgical interventions will then be discussed along with important nursing interventions for managing pain and preventing complications.  Finally client teaching topics will be addressed for managing pain and supporting movement and safety.
