Thrombocytopenia -Thrombocytic Purpura (ITP)

In this lesson, we will review what thrombocytopenia is and introduce common causes of this disorder.  We will identify signs and symptoms along with diagnostic testing that will aid in confirming the diagnosis.  We will then connect symptoms with medications and treatment methods and discuss signs of potential serious complications nurses will be assessing for.   Finally we will distinguish nursing interventions and important client teaching topics aimed at managing symptoms and minimizing complications of this disorder.
