Thyroid Cancer

In this lesson, we will first do a brief review of the function and anatomy of the thyroid.  Next we will identify four types of thyroid cancer and risk factors for developing them.  We will summarize signs and symptoms of thyroid cancer and a variety of diagnostics used to confirm it.  We will then discuss surgical and non-surgical interventions and priority nursing interventions to prevent complications and maintain the client’s airway when caring for clients diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
