Types of Immobilization Devices

In this lesson, we will identify several types of immobilization devices used to correct or stabilize disorders of the musculoskeletal system.  We will review nursing interventions for each type of device in addition to key nursing assessments that are necessary to prevent injury, infection, and other potential complications.  Finally we will go over some surgical immobilization techniques along with key nursing interventions for safety and infection prevention.
