We introduce several different types of disorders of the endocrine system and look at their underlying contributing causes. For each lesson, we will review signs and symptoms nurses will be assessing for, nursing interventions, diagnostic testing, treatment methods, and medications for each. Side effects, contraindications, and interactions of medications will be discussed along with important client teaching topics focused on safety and infection prevention while working with client’s to prevent, treat, and manage disorders of the endocrine system.
