Renal System

In this lesson, we will review excretory urography and determine how it can help detect disorders of renal system structures.  This is a semi-invasive procedure that has some important nursing interventions before and after the procedure that will be reviewed. 

Why in the world would we collect urine for 24 hours? In this lesson we will discuss some indications for performing a 24-hour urine collection and identify nursing responsibilities for educating clients, labeling, and storing the sample.   Learning Objectives:

In this first lesson, we will review the structures that make up the renal system and go over the main functions of each structure.  We will give an overview of how urine is produced and explain both excretory and hormonal
